WITH VINTAGE JEWELRY |

| I love the idea of using vintage earrings as jewelry for my table, however, I had a difficult time trying to come up with a basic napkin ring which would accommodate the different styles of clip-on earrings. Eventually, I came up with a simple solution. How to Make The Rings: I use a manila file folder as my base, and cut it into 6” x 1 3/8” strips. To cover the strips, I use a 1 ½” wide, wired ribbon. The ribbon is cut slightly longer than the strip, so the ends can be folded over, giving a more finished look. A spray adhesive is used to put the ribbon on the base. Before gluing the ends together to make the ring, I cut a small horizontal slit in the center of the strip. This allows a place to insert the clip of the earring. Now, the fun begins! The pictures below show different ways you can combine similar styles of earrings to give a little glitz to your table setting. Most of the earrings are the clip-on, but you can also use the pierced or screw-on. |
