Old lamps are easy to find at yard sales, estate sales and flea markets. Every once in a while you may find a box lot of lamp parts at an auction or estate sale. Lamp parts vary in size, shape & design, but there are certain basics. The base can be decorative or simple, marble, wood or brass. There is usually a center pedestal piece, which can be glass, ceramic, metal or wood. Most lamps have some type of spacers & of course, the shade. You may also find bobeches, crystals and prisms. The lamp is held together with a threaded metal rod called a lamp nipple.
