CHRISTMAS floorcloth |
The canvas used for this festive floor cloth, has a vinyl backing, so it does not unravel or require hemming. I am not certain where this type of canvas can be found, at this time, since I purchased it several years ago at SAS Fabric in Phoenix. Any light colored paint can be used as a base coat, but I used an antique white latex paint. It helps create a good surface for the next layer of paint. |

| Then, for the fun, I placed a lace curtain panel on the painted canvas, and sprayed on a coat of Krylon Gold Semi-Gloss. To add some extra Holiday Glitter & Glitz, I finished with a layer of Gold Spray Glitter. I did this with the Lace Panel in place. Finally, the rug was trimmed with gold beading & braiding, and each corner was jazzed up with a gold tassel. If you have viewed some of my other projects, you will notice that I have used lace curtain panels as stencils for many different types of projects. It is easy and inexpensive, the curtains can be re-used several times. But, best of all, the end result is lovely! |

| RESOURCES: CANVAS CLOTH The two different types of canvas cloth I use were purchased several years ago at SAS, a discount fabric store located in Phoenix, AZ. I am in the process of trying to locate some online resources, which offer canvas floor cloths at reasonable prices. SPRAY PAINT My preference is Krylon. It has an even spray, and the coverage is much better than with other brands. You can purchase it at Wal-Mart or your local hardware store. Home Depot does not carry Krylon; I'm not sure about Lowes. GOLD GLITTER SPRAY PAINT The two gold glitter paints I have used are: Spray Glitter by Decorating Magic Gold Glitter Spray Paint by Krylon The following Online stores sell one or both of these products. Dick Blick Art Materials JoAnn Fabric Create for Less Mister Art The braiding and beading can be found at any fabric shop or Wal-Mart. |
