Lone Star Biker Rally ![]() You
don't have to be a Biker
to
have a lot of fun at
this event!! When the Bikers
arrive, the
whole City
comes to life, with a more festive atmosphere, so everyone has a
great time! There are more
than enough places to hang out, things to
do, and plenty
of live music to entertain
the locals and visitors
alike! And there is NO ADMISSION FEE!! This
annual event just began
in 2003,
but it is already threatening to become The Island's
most popular festival; the
best party of the year!! There were 75,000
people at the first event, 250,000
in 2004, and another 225,000
in 2005!! Normally
held at the beginning
of November,
the Biker
Rally
is centered in downtown
Galveston,
with The
Strand acting as both a
parking lot, for all that chrome, and a "Promenade Strip"
for
those who want to cruise. During
this long weekend, The
Strand is teeming with
thousands of people, who hang out, visit the
shops and party in the bars and clubs. Vendors
also occupy areas along The
Strand, Ship Mechanic's Row
and at Pier
21, displaying all sorts of
motorcycles and accessories. As many as 100,000 people
crowd The
Strand
day and night making it as packed and wild as any night on Bourbon
Street! ![]() The Rally will also provide a musical stage at 21st Street and Harborside where a whole list of bands perform throughout the day and night. One of the best things about the entertainment, on the official event stages, is that it is absolutely free! There is no charge, as is the case at Mardi Gras, so people can move freely and spontaneously in and out of the downtown area! That way none of the downtown shops, clubs or bars are captive in an "Entertainment District" which requires an admission fee! In addition, nearly every club in downtown Galveston adds extra live music to their schedules for the Rally to supplement what is presented on the main stage. The Line Up had Ju-Ju's on The Strand so packed in 2004 that they had to turn people away at the door! These guys really Rock!! They were back with a vengeance in 2005, and set the place on fire, once again!! This year's music schedule. ![]() Jeffrey Pennington on guitar and vocals ![]() Willy Gonzalez on drums and vocals ![]() Stacy Cook lays down a mean bottom ![]() Jackson Gonzalez on percussion ![]() The two boys A second
stage, located on The
Seawall, will
also draw the
festivities out to the beach with more live music
and
fun on the Gulf.
In addition to the two official stages, other venues
along The Seawall,
and further west on The
Island,
offer music lovers
more than they can handle during this event! This
year's music scheduleCaptain
Jack's Beach Bar,
on The
Seawall, was a new venue for the 2005
Rally, and they welcomed
the Biker's to their new facility.
![]() After the re-scheduling forced on the event by Hurricane Rita, they were very fortunate to still be able to offer Double Ought and The Skip Devlin Band as their headliners. ![]() ![]() Skip ![]() George ![]() Tracy ![]() Rita ![]() The Sunspree Resort and Captain Jack's Beach Bar just opened in the Summer of 2005, so it was their first chance to be an official venue for the Biker Rally. The "Captain" at Captain Jack's was Jasen Jowers. He put together some amazing entertainment that everyone enjoyed at the 2005 Rally! ![]() Does he belong here? Lone Star Biker Rally 2007
